Chichester & South Downs Snow pictures – Sussex

With the over night snow all but gone by the morning, i decided to take a drive up to goodwood and the southdowns to see if there were any nice Snowy landscapes to be seen, i came away with a good few pictures.
As part of a side project the images were shot in black and white and then on the way home i saw a whole bunch of pheasants that looked so striking in the snow.

There were plenty of people up on the trundle having fun in the snow with enough to allow for a good amount of sledging, I managed to get home and back with the kids before the snow melted :) .

Chichester Vs Hastings Under 15′s

Today I was supposed to go watch my nephew and friends son play rugby at Oaklands park in Chichester, it was the Chichester Under 15′s Vs the Hastings teams, To say I was late was a bit of an understatement I managed to catch the last 10 or so minutes of the game which by all accounts was a good match *disclaimer (I know nothing about rugby) but I do know that the Chichester boys beat Hastings by 53 -7.
Editing images from events like this is extremely time consuming so I have decided to post all of what I have taken as they came out of the camera….yes there are some poor quality images here but you can’t get them right every time and this is only my 2nd go at rugby photography and due to tiredness I forgot everything I learnt last week.

Just some snaps

The Durdle Door Sunrise and Moonrise

Having had many return trips to the Durdle door down at lulworth in Dorset I have final captured the sort of shot I was after.
My first rip here was in march 2009 and I have been back about 20 times just really to pull of these 2 shots, I have a few other angles and not some not so great images ruined by 1 thing or another which i may post later.
The durdle door is a natural rock arch on the Jurassic coast or Dorset and next to the “man of war” which is a name for a rock formation just around the corner (literally).
The sunrise was spoiled slightly by excessive cloud, but i stuck around and had to just go for it.

Littlehampton West Beach Long Exposure & Sunset

Being stuck at home and bored is no fun, so despite feeling a bit ill i wrapped up warm and headed out to West Beach at Littlehampton. I had been here before to scope out the location for a possible sunrise shoot. This is probably the best time of year for sunsets on the south coast due to the position of the sun, that said yesterday the clouds were against me. I struggled to find the right composition for a decent sunset that was interesting and i think i will only be going back here for sunrise at somepoint in the future.

Here we have 2 long exposures 30 seconds + each and a ‘natural’ shot at normal shutter speed.

Elmer Beach Long Exposure

Taken down at Elmer beach yesterday had some time inbetween jobs so i thought i would bust out the camera.
Since getting a big stopper i havent really used it that much which is a crime in itself really.
The big stopper is a bit of black glass that allows you to keep the shutter open on the camera for extreme amounts of time even in daylight without over exposing the photo but allowing all things moving to blur.
Here are 2 examples of what you can do, both images are 2 mintue exposures ( normal exposure time for this type of shot would be 1/30th of a second, so that makes these shots 3600 times longer than they should be.

Lightning Storm hits mainland Greece from Zante

On the last night of my holiday In Zakynthos, I went to the tip of the harbour wall at Tsilivi, to photography the lightning storm that just passed over head. I was about to pack up and go as there hadn’t been any lightning for some time but luckily i managed to catch this beauty!
