BBC Springwatch inspired – Wild bird photos
Inspired by the BBC Springwatch program i went out hunting for a suitable location to take some close up pictures of birds in their natural state. (opposed to feeding tables).
I found my self perched on a river bank hidden behind braches and tall grasses, I waited for about 2 hours perfectly still and after a steady stream of dog walkers and cyclists had stopped coming by the birds began to settle, some landing on branches in front of me only 2 ft away, but to close to photograph without scaring off.
As with most types of photography there is some skills involved in catching the right moments, and its not as easy as they make it look on the television.
Here is what I managed to capture through my lens.
The following image was shot in the same second there was less than 1/300th of a seconds between these to photos
Poppy Field Sunset Landscape
Been searching and searching for some poppies in a filed to photograph a nice sunset or panorama.
After just over 100 miles of driving it all came down to a tip-off for this location, thanks mate
I have another image shot slightly earlier that i will edit and post soon.
Butterfly Macro
Almost stepped on this little fellow while out taking pictures of bluebells, took a close up on a macro extension tube, I have ben told its a female speckled wood butterfly….
Vertical blur Bluebells – Sussex
Saw a similar idea to this in a motorway services except it was a little more extreme, I have another one that is even more blurred which i will post later, but for now here’s my first posted bluebells picture from the 2011 season. More to follow, including pink and white bluebells…….
Comments and feedback welcome

Snowy landscapes – Halnaker Windmill
Halnaker has always been a favourite place of mine for quite some time now, peace and quiet and stunning views, Iwent out yesterday with Halnaker in mind but on arrival at the carpark a fellow photographer told me the snow wasnt deep, with this in mind and the forcast of more snow I penciled in sunrise this morning, I wanted to be the first person up there and no prior footprints, what follows is a picture i have wanted to take for years, it was hard work keeping the snow of the camera in the driving winds i took a few shots on the way up as well so I will start with them ….
