Goodwood Breakfast Club – June 2011
Definitely My 2 most favourite cars, and the Lancia wins by a nose.
2 images taken at the Goodwood Breakfast Club Meeting June 2011 the theme was GT up to 1970 but later years were allowed on display, a good turn out plenty of nice cars to look at and get close to, oh and free entry too! Thanks Lord March.
1929 Alfa Romeo 6c 1750 @ Goodwood Revival 2009… Going Back in time
Well i was sat on a wall up at Goodwood a few hours after the Vulcan had flown over waiting for the “all warbirds” display, that was cancelled so in the end i was waiting for something that wasn’t going to happen. While waiting i managed to get some photo’s of the vimmy vintage aeroplane but also decided to capture some nice cars as they were leaving the revival. Far to often do i see people flocking to photograph ferrari’s, lamborghini’s and other “nice” expensive sports cars many paying little attention to the classics and really that’s what the revival is all about and although its a nice car and i wouldn’t say no to one if it was offered but the aston martin db9 has got a little common around these parts and on sunday almost every 5th car was a db9 (driven by a lot of people who would loved to have posed for a picture) sorry not this time….
So what we have here after some research is a nice example of a 1929 Alfa Romeo 6c 1750 as far as i can tell, this particular model had an engine capacity of 1752cc producing 46bhp with a top speed of 68mph (going about 30 went he went past me).
I have used a colour & black & white image here to show this one, as some of the scenery (traffic cones and car park attendant in yellow jacket) detracts somewhat from the beauty of the car.
Below is a mock up (photoshop edit) of how the car might have looked if i had taken the same photo on film back in the 50′s
And finally we have another photoshop edit of a scene that i captured just outside the main gates at Goodwood circuit of a mobile canteen from world war 2
if it wasn’t for a modern van in the background and a chap not wearing the uniform it would be easy to pass this off as an original photo such was the detail in their re creation of the time.
Enjoy
Wayne
