Manor Road Garage “Open”

An Image from the archives Manor road garage in east preston will shortly re-opens its doors this time though not as a garage, it has been refurbished into flats, I’m yet to revisit to see what it looks like but hopefully soon will go over and do an “after” picture but for now i gave this one a bit of a tweak in photoshop ……

Festival of Speed 2010 center Piece

After the weekend has gone and i have sorted through all my images i will do a specific gallery for all the images rather than lots of posts, but mean while here is a slighty enhance hdr image of the center piece at the festival of speed 2010 right on the lawn in front of Goodwood House, this year celebrating 100 years of Alfa Romeo.

I will back on saturday to take shots of the racing, rally stage and the red arrows display and maybe some F1 cars.

Bank Holiday Blues ?

One thing that has been in my diary since i missed out last year is to get a nice shot of some bluebells, the bank holiday weekend was looking rather damp but today proved much better for going out exploring here are a few of my photos from today…

1000 Hits from 25 countries and counting…

Well as you know my site has been up a while now and after some mathematics and removing every time i log in today i have had 1000 hits on my website from 25 different countries which is above average according to Google… not bad for a 3 month old site.

Thank you to all that have visited and had a look and please come back also feel free to leave your comments under each post you can remain anonymous if you wish just make up an email address.

Heres some interesting facts for you … or maybe not….
when searching Google World Wide for “waynes photos” Ranked 2nd of about 42 million results
when searching Google uk for “waynes photos” Ranked 1st from 400,000 results

The busiest single day was 2nd July with 55 hits
The single most popular post overall has been The London Architecture Poll with 46 visits but only 15 votes :(
The average page view is 2.71 pages per visit, spending 3 minutes 17 seconds viewing those pages.
In reality there are a high number of single page visits staying for 10 seconds or less, but here have been a number of visitors how have stayed and given the site a thorough read through thanks you to Mondays visitor who stayed for 29 minutes reading 12 pages from the Uk. :)

55% of people visiting the site return for another look… :)
33% of visitors arrived from google or other search engines.

    Manor Road Garage East Preston

    Manor road Garage was built in the 1930′s and was used until at least the 80′s. it was run by a gentleman called Mr. Lillywhite who seemed to have dabbled in any business he could from the property, he had steam rollers for road making, there was even a car still on the ramps, wonder who didn’t get their car back? He also had a small nursery behind the garage, which he sold to build house’s on in the 50′s.
    The building is grade 2 listed and is due to be turned into flats re-using the existing façade which will be transformed to its former glory including a full refurb of all 4 pumps apparently the original glass bowls for the top of the pumps were inside the building.

    st Marys axe
    30 St Mary Axe, also known as the Gherkin and the Swiss Re Building, is a skyscraper in London’s main financial district, the City of London. It is 180 metres (591 ft) tall, with 40 floors. Its construction symbolised the start of a new high-rise construction boom in London.
    This building is visible from most places in London, however the closer you get the harder is to photograph, this shot even on my 10-22mm Lens i still couldn’t get the whole thing in shooting on 10mm is about as wide as it goes but when close up has some distortion effects on the subject hence in this image “The Gerkin” looks more like and egg than a tall building.

    Halnaker Windmill

    On a recent trip out which was “rained” off by bad cloud, i took this photo of a sunset at Halnaker Windmill (its one of my favourite places for sunsets) while setting up the shot for later.
    Any how later never arrived.
    When I got home I merged several exposures together a technique known as HDR (High Dynamic Range), it basically takes all the best bits from 3 photos and puts them together, but you have to shoot on a tripod for this to be effective. Anyhow sometimes Hdr produces undesired effects or enhances things from the photos that you can see as well from one photo. The following image is one of those occasions, the rainbow effect has come from smears on the lens that couldn’t be seen with the eye, from when it was cleaned last.
