Glorious Goodwood Ladies day 2011 Magnolia Charity Cup

Edie Campbell Super model for burbery) had an outstanding ride to win the Magnolia Cup, the female charity race run before the main card at Glorious Goodwood on Thursday (ladies day).
Edie Campbell, 21, who has modelled for Burberry and Chanel was an easy winner on the George Baker-trained Harrodian Hotshot, the names of the horses were changed for the charity race but under racing rules is known as George Baker.

Being a fan i wanted Sara Cox radio 1 dj to win but finished 9th on horse number 9.
The bright silks of Annette Mason were looking good to start with but she had a fall after the stirrups came loose after 1 furlong she held on to the finish line but the horse made a sudden turn towards the parade ring and she was thrown off becoming unconscious for a short while, she was later taken to st. Richards hospital, Chichester as a precautionary measure but was conscious on leaving the race course.

Second went to Channel 4 racing presenter Emma Spencer on the gambled-on Royal Star (Jungle Bay).

First sunrise of Artemis at Goodwood

My first ever Sunrise shoot, and for sure it didn’t go to plan at all, having stayed up all night at the trundle fog very nearly ruined everything sadly no shafts of sunlight hitting the statue but there’s always next time.
The trundle (St Roaches hill) An ancient iron age fort, is now a temporary home to something a little newer in Bronze.
Artemis a 30ft giant horses head cast in bronze Named by the creator/ sculptor Nic Fiddian-Green now stands tall overlooking the Sussex downs, glorious Goodwood, Chichester and a large section of the south coast.

As you can see in the second picture the entire singleton, Charlton and east dean valley was thick in fog giving a surreal image of this giant horses head appearing to float on the clouds.
this will definitely be the first of many trips as i cant fit in before the statue disappears for good…….

The horse has now moved from the trundle and its location is now the private members area at the racecourse see here ………. Location

UPDATE 8-11-2011

Artemis now has a new home in Austrailia, He left the lawn at goodwood house this morning and will arrive in austraia some time in december. the following information was taken from a bbc article clik the link for full article….
A family have paid about £1m to buy a huge sculpture of a horse’s head and transport it from Sussex to Australia.

The 30ft (9.1m) high bronze called Artemis was created by artist Nic Fiddian-Green. It formerly stood on the Trundle on the South Downs.

Now an Australian family are taking it to Sydney to become a memorial at the grave of their late father.

Mr Fiddian-Green said the family had bought his work before and had a love of horses.
‘Something this personal’

The sculpture, which was sited at Goodwood House over the summer for the racing festival, is being transported to Southampton Docks before heading to New South Wales.

The artist said: “It’s going on to one of the oldest mountain ranges in the world – known as The Great Dividing Range – on their family estate as a memorial to their late father.

“It’s an honour to have been selected and to have made something that will mark something this personal – its something very profound.”

Almost Glorious Goodwood 2009 Ladies day

Today allowed time for something I had in mind for a while, so there was a forecast of sunny spells the rain stopped and I went off, on arrival the festivities were well under way I found a spot and took some snaps but didn’t like the previews, then all of a sudden from no where the heavens opened drowning several thousand people for almost 30 mins I almost gave up!
When the rain stopped I moved down next to the racecourse, and I’m happy to say it was a good move.
Here is Frankie Dettori, Winner of the sixth race of the day, The 17.10 European Breeders’ Fund New ham Maiden Fillies’ Stakes, 30th July 2009.
