Super Bowl 45 weekend 49ers v Broncos 2010 photos
Well it’s been a long time coming and with the super bowl 45 this weekend I thought it was about time I edited and posted some of the picture I took during the international game at Wembley in London 31st October 2010. In the U.SA. they don’t really do things small so this was a big event American style with a massive Tailgate party outside the stadium for 6 hours before kickoff as well as a pre party in Trafalgar square on the day before.
The tailgate party offered a chance for fans to try out their throwing arms and kicking skills on practice stalls as well as browse a collection of memorabilia from around the NFL not to mention the huge San Francisco 49ers hall of fame on display covering a complete highlight history of the 49ers including the super bowl rings and trophies. Among other stands were all the sponsor tents where at various points the San Francisco gold rush cheerleaders provided and excellent display of their talents I was so busy taking photos I missed by 1 person in the queue for my photo with them so had to settle for a cheeky background snap.
All in all as a third time to see the 49ers in the flesh (twice at home in SF) it was really amazing to finally see them win a game.
Although the International game isn’t even on US soil it was classed as home field advantage for the 49ers. Their own stadium candlestick park California seats 69,734 while the “new” Wembley stadium seats 90,000 the second largest stadium in Europe, all which meant that the 83,941 attendance was the biggest crowd ever to attend a home game for the 49ers.
My prediction for super bowl 45 winners is the Pittsburgh Steelers although I would prefer the Green Bay packers to win either way its going to be a great game.
And now for the pictures…

And Finally 1 last image

30 St Mary Axe, also known as the Gherkin and the Swiss Re Building, is a skyscraper in London’s main financial district, the City of London. It is 180 metres (591 ft) tall, with 40 floors. Its construction symbolised the start of a new high-rise construction boom in London.
This building is visible from most places in London, however the closer you get the harder is to photograph, this shot even on my 10-22mm Lens i still couldn’t get the whole thing in shooting on 10mm is about as wide as it goes but when close up has some distortion effects on the subject hence in this image “The Gerkin” looks more like and egg than a tall building.
This brings an end to a weeks for of Urban exploring or “Ubrbanexing / urb ex” or what ever you want to call it and I hope you have enjoyed this weeks images as much as I have

London Architecture Day 6
Today is the final day for new images, tomorrow there will be a reminder and your chance to vote for your favourite image of this week.
Both of today’s images are revisits to areas or subject previously posted this week, firstly is a trip back to more place, this office is currently occupied however the office in the reflection is still under construction and will be part of a revisit some other time. What captured my eye most about both this image and the final image is the clean lines and the flat reflective surface with the exact opposite in the reflection.
The second of the 2 images is of the same office block from day 1 which i now know is something to do with a company or organisation called Willis, in the reflection is the Lloyds of London building, which in itself is a very odd looking building indeed, The Lloyds Building was designed by architect Richard Rogers and built between 1978 and 1986, the building was innovative in having its services such as staircases, lifts, electrical power conduits and water pipes on the outside, leaving an uncluttered space inside. The twelve glass lifts were the first of their kind in the UK.for more info see Wikipedia.
Well that about wraps up this weeks images be sure to come back tomorrow to vote for your favourite and maybe one more special treat.!
Enjoy

London Architecture Day 4
Here is todays images from day 4 of my London Architecture trip.
Above is the end shot of 1 of 4 very large rectangular granite looking blocks that are water features, water runs across the tops and own each side of them.
Next is the main water feature that runs from one end of More Place up near the fountains right down to the other end nearly 300 yards away near the granite blocks.
i would like to re-shoot this photo on a busy day with a clear view of tower bridge but with more people rushing about on the pavements.
As i mentioned on day 1 of this blog section a lot of London’s attractions and famous landmarks are quite close. This picture is a good example of what you can see in a few hundred yards, in the far distance you can see Tower bridge, slightly closer is the rounded tip of the Greater London Council city hall, and then the large area known as More Place.

London Architecture Day 3
Welcome to day 3 of the photo blog for London Architecture todays post wasn’t on my original list of photos as i didnt quite capture the image i was looking for but after a trip to Legoland, Windsor, yesterday i have given it another chance.
The first image was one of the first buildings that I came across on our 12.63 mile trek (possibly more) around the big smoke.
The Next image is a close up of the same building containing a reflection of the Gerkin building, which when i was standing in front of the GLC was the thing that stood out the most and was what i was trying to capture the first time, i was shooting all day on a very wide-angle lens 10-22mm so close-ups weren’t really an option unless i wanted to spend half the day changing lenses to and fro.
The sheer size of this building (some may consider it a sculpture) and shape makes it very unique and recognisable, once you have seen it in the flesh so to speak you will know what it is if you ever see a picture of it and at Legoland i spotted it a mile off, sadly when ever you take a photograph at Legoland there will almost always be someone else in the photograph unless you go when the park is shut!
After all Lego is for architects in the making.
Enjoy

City of London Architecture Images
All this week I will be posting a selection of photographs taken on a day out to London which was the back up location in case of adverse weather this sunday which was due to be a 2nd trip to the sound mirrors at denge.
I have only ever been to London a few times in my life, once when i was too young to remember and more recently for events at Earls Court and Olympia and a few job interviews, so going on a sight-seeing trip was a first and an eye opener too.
The trip was intended to be for the purpose of Architectural shots of buildings, however i got a bit carried away and started photographing anything and everything some good some bad, slightly disappointed that both Tower Bridge and the Houses of parliament had more than a bit of scaffolding which wasn’t very photographic.
I really enjoyed the contrast of all the new square edged, sharp lined and modern curved buildings against the older buildings that are hundreds of years old, every where you look there is a modern glass building with a reflection of an older building in it giving that high contrast, what i was most surprised about is that I always thought that getting a tube around London was the best way to travel but most of London’s good sights are actually quiet close and very walkable, it would take longer to walk down into the tube station wait for the tube get of the other end and walk up again than it would to just walk from point to point.
On with today’s photo which is the 1st of 2 photos this week of this building and was taken opposite the Lloyds of London building in Lime street, as with most modern buildings in London, it was very anonymous so i cant say what building it actually is.
