    And Finally 1 last image
    st Marys axe
30 St Mary Axe, also known as the Gherkin and the Swiss Re Building, is a skyscraper in London’s main financial district, the City of London. It is 180 metres (591 ft) tall, with 40 floors. Its construction symbolised the start of a new high-rise construction boom in London.
This building is visible from most places in London, however the closer you get the harder is to photograph, this shot even on my 10-22mm Lens i still couldn’t get the whole thing in shooting on 10mm is about as wide as it goes but when close up has some distortion effects on the subject hence in this image “The Gerkin” looks more like and egg than a tall building.

    The Gerkin

This brings an end to a weeks for of Urban exploring or “Ubrbanexing / urb ex” or what ever you want to call it and I hope you have enjoyed this weeks images as much as I have

    London Architecture Day 6

Today is the final day for new images, tomorrow there will be a reminder and your chance to vote for your favourite image of this week.
Both of today’s images are revisits to areas or subject previously posted this week, firstly is a trip back to more place, this office is currently occupied however the office in the reflection is still under construction and will be part of a revisit some other time. What captured my eye most about both this image and the final image is the clean lines and the flat reflective surface with the exact opposite in the reflection.

The second of the 2 images is of the same office block from day 1 which i now know is something to do with a company or organisation called Willis, in the reflection is the Lloyds of London building, which in itself is a very odd looking building indeed, The Lloyds Building was designed by architect Richard Rogers and built between 1978 and 1986, the building was innovative in having its services such as staircases, lifts, electrical power conduits and water pipes on the outside, leaving an uncluttered space inside. The twelve glass lifts were the first of their kind in the UK.for more info see Wikipedia.

Well that about wraps up this weeks images be sure to come back tomorrow to vote for your favourite and maybe one more special treat.!

    Enjoy

    London Architecture Day 4

Here is todays images from day 4 of my London Architecture trip.

    More Place water, London,waynes photos

Above is the end shot of 1 of 4 very large rectangular granite looking blocks that are water features, water runs across the tops and own each side of them.
Next is the main water feature that runs from one end of More Place up near the fountains right down to the other end nearly 300 yards away near the granite blocks.

    More Place water, London,waynes photos

i would like to re-shoot this photo on a busy day with a clear view of tower bridge but with more people rushing about on the pavements.

As i mentioned on day 1 of this blog section a lot of London’s attractions and famous landmarks are quite close. This picture is a good example of what you can see in a few hundred yards, in the far distance you can see Tower bridge, slightly closer is the rounded tip of the Greater London Council city hall, and then the large area known as More Place.

    More Place.

    Enjoy
