My first ever Sunrise shoot, and for sure it didnt go to plan at all, having stayed up all night at the trundle fog very nearly ruined everything sadly no shafts of sunlight hitting the statue but theres always next time.
The trundle (St Roaches hill) An ancient iron age fort, is now a temporary home to something a little newer in Bronze.
Artemis a 30ft giant horses head cast in bronze Named by the creator/ sculptor Nic Fiddian-Green now stands tall overlooking the sussex downs, glorious goodwood, chichester and a large section of the south coast.
As you can see in the second picture the entire singleton, charlton and east dean valley was thick in fog giving a sureal image of this giant horses head appearing to float on the clouds.
this will definatley be the first of many trips as i cant fit in before the statue disappears for good…….

The horse has now moved from the trundle and its location is now the private members area at the racecourse see here ………. Location

Halloween 31st October 2009 the night set for Fontwell Racecourse to attempt to break a world record for the highest number of guys to be on fire simultaneously in aid of the dreams come true charity . At the time of writing this blog i have been unable to find out if the record was achieved, as in order for me to take photographs of the fireworks the best view was not in the grandstand and i could not hear the commentary from where i was. If like me you enjoyed a free show from public ground roads, fields and footpaths nearby you can still donate to the charity via their website here Donate.
Taking photos of fireworks is something i haven’t really tried before and it was harder than i thought it might be so here is the best of what i managed to take.

Sloe fair at the northgate Car park in Chichester is some thing of a local tradition in more ways than one in more recent times tradition is that it always rains, however real tradition is that the fair takes place every year on the 20th October every year unless the 20th is a sunday in which case its is on the 21st, the right to hold the fair was passed by King Henry I in the 12th century. He gave the Bishop of Chichester the right to hold a fair on land where a car park now stands and the event was named after an ancient tree which once stood in the area. Fairs have changed alot over the years and these days Sloe fair Comprises mostly of large mechanical rides with a few traditional stalls dotted about. What ever the circumstances at least one stall or ride must be open on “Sloe Fair ” day else the rights to hold the fair will be lost, in recent history (world war II) the rights were kept by opening a candy floss stall. The fair is much annoyance to the Chichester district council as there is little they can do to develop the land or carpark without restricting the operation of the fair, whilst also closing its 2nd biggest car park for up to 4 days per year.
I went out on tuesday night in the rain to do a reshoot of a a photo that i shot last year when i was just learning about night photography, the ride in question allthough present was not in a postion that i could get the same shot or indeed a good one ,add this to the rain and i didnt even get to take a shot so here is the shot that i took last year.

Wel as you know my site has been up a while now and after some mathmatics and removing every time i log in today i have had 1000 hits on my website from 25 diferent countries which is above average according to Google… not bad for a 3 month old site.
Thank you to all that have visited and had a look and please come back also feel free to leave your comments under each post you can remain annonymous if you wish just make up an email address.
Heres some interesting facts for you … or maybe not….
when searching Google World Wide for “waynes photos” Ranked 2nd of about 42 million results
when searching Google uk for “waynes photos” Ranked 1st from 400,000 results
The Bussiest single day was 2nd july with 55 hits
The single most popular post overall has been The London Architecture Poll with 46 visits but only 15 votes ![]()
The average page view is 2.71 pages per visit, spending 3 minutes 17 seconds viewing those pages.
In reality there are a high number of single page visits staying for 10 seconds or less, but here have been a number of visitors how have stayed and given the site a thourough read through thanks you to mondays visitor who stayed for 29 minutes reading 12 pages from the Uk.
55% of people visiting the site return for another look… ![]()
33% of visitors arrived from google or other search engines.
1 person did a search for Jonathan Fridlington (my best mate and fellow photographer) skipped 9 results for him and clicked on my site, the odd thing is i that they never actaully clicked on his site at all that day… how bizzare?
Overall there were visits from 25 countries around the globe in order of most hits first here are the stats
The 25th Country or region is … Unknown (ip region not set) so it could have come from anywhere
There are hundreds more stats i could bore you with but i wont, but i will tell you that i can even tell the screen resoloution of the pcs or handheld devices the website is viewed on and i will be using this in future to maximise the size of the photos i put up, in short if you cant see the whole picture your in the minority and its time to buy a bigger screen!
Here is an image with a descriptionclick on it, if you cant see it all (inc description) then your screen is set below average resoloution (if you need help call me) shame about the lens flare in this picture
if your thinking of upgrading a screen or anything pc Novatech for the best prices and most excellent customer service and after sales i have recived in a long time.
hope i havent sent you to sleep, come back soon as i have some more images to post this week.

Well i haven’t been out much with the camera in the last few weeks, despite wanting too. Every time there has been good weather or a nice sunset i have either had my girls with me or no camera, having a saturday free and knowing that i cant now get out for a week for sunsets i took a chance and headed out to east head at west wittering, always a popular spot for walkers and dogs and rightly so as it is very nice place to be particularly at dusk and sunset some breath taking landscapes.
Here is one of my shots from the sunset…..
Taken by me Edited by Jonathan (while i was eating my dinner) i couldnt have done a better job so credit where its due….
Todays post is an edited image from the archives earlier this year, using a program called Autostitch i have merged together a sequence of images shot from on top of the old lighthouse at dungeness.
The Old Lighthouse is 151 feet high (46m) and provides stunning views of the surrounding area, while the website claims to be a great family trip i would stress that although going up is nice its not some where you would visit unless you were in the area, we (Jonathan, Pete and Simon) added it on to the end of a sounds mirrors trip, some of you maybe aware that i have a bit of a height fobia, i was less than half way up the first flight of stairs when i felt my stomach twirl, the inside of the lighthouse has 4 internal floors so there is plenty of opportunity to rest however the staircases are very open and you can see along way down, the penultimate flight was the worst. Upon arriving at the top there is one final flight which is more like a ladder but enlcosed so was easy, at the top you enter into the lens housing which is pretty awesome and there is a tiny doorway about 2 1/2 ft sqaure which you crawl through to get right out on top, now i managed that but when outside my legs refused to work so i couldnt stand up, i must stress the balcony although perfectly safe is a little rusty, and appears to look like its going to fall off add this to exceptionaly high winds 40+ mph (nearly time to change underwear), any how i made it out alive and intend to do it again when its not windy maybe one day i will conquer my fear.
From the top you can see the new lighthouse, cafe, nuclear powerstation and Dungeness Station, the final stop of the famous Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Light Railway re-opened after WW11 in 1947 by Hollywood Stars Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy. The Railway runs a regular service through from Hythe for most of the year.
Location.
